Onshore wind makes an important contribution to decarbonising the UK’s energy system, as more than 8,000 turbines have been commissioned with a combined generating capacity of over 14GW
Wind farms account for around 1/4 of total UK generation. The low cost power onshore wind can produce is critical to lowering consumer bills and reducing the UK’s reliance on energy imports. Additionally, in remote locations in which onshore wind farms are located they are an important source of employment.
Averon Group has owned and operated onshore wind since 2017, starting with the acquisition of a two-turbine site in Scotland. Further acquisitions of operational sites followed growing our portfolio to seven sites with a combined capacity of 115MW.
